Online School, Real Community
Sycamore Academy students don't just log in and log out. They join clubs, attend events, build friendships, and become part of a school community that feels like home — even from a distance.
A Typical Day at Sycamore Academy
Every student's schedule looks a little different — and that's by design. Most students attend live, one-on-one lessons with their teacher in the morning, then work on independent assignments and projects in the afternoon. There's time for clubs, study hall, and social activities built into each week. Students log into a live classroom where their teacher knows them by name, understands their learning style, and adjusts the lesson in real time.
Friendships That Go Beyond the Screen
One of the biggest concerns parents have about online school is socialization. We take it seriously. Sycamore students connect through live group activities, collaborative projects, virtual game nights, and interest-based clubs. Many of our students form deep, lasting friendships with peers from around the world. Our teachers and counselors actively foster a welcoming, inclusive culture where every student feels like they belong.
Events & Traditions
From spirit weeks and talent shows to holiday celebrations and graduation ceremonies, Sycamore Academy has traditions that students look forward to all year. Our annual virtual field trips take students to museums, national parks, and cultural landmarks around the world. And yes — we have a real graduation ceremony with caps, gowns, and proud families cheering from the audience.
Clubs, Activities & Community
There's always something happening at Sycamore Academy. Here are just a few ways students stay connected.
Book Club
Students meet weekly to discuss books they've chosen together — from fantasy to nonfiction. Led by a teacher moderator who keeps the conversation going.
Coding & Robotics
A hands-on club for students interested in programming, game design, and building things. Projects range from beginner-friendly to advanced.
World Culture Club
With students from over 50 countries, our culture club celebrates diversity through virtual presentations, food traditions, and storytelling from around the globe.
Creative Writing
Aspiring writers share poetry, short stories, and creative nonfiction in a supportive workshop environment. Published in our annual student literary journal.
Virtual Game Nights
Trivia, online games, and just plain fun. Game nights are student favorites and a great way to make new friends in a low-pressure setting.
Student Government
Elected student leaders help plan events, represent student voices, and build leadership skills that colleges notice.
